Monday, March 15th, 2010Technology podcast 108: An interview with Ike Alexander
Sunday, February 28th, 2010Hi all,
This is being cross posted with the MENVI podcast, but decided to add just a few comments, and my contact information to this podcast. We have specific show notes for this podcast, so lets get them. Before I do, please let me know if this podcast should have a dedicated toll-free number that would be used for contact. It would be a voice mail, and I can call you back through it. Skype callers would benefit as they don’t have to pay to call it. More after the interview. Now the show notes.
February 27, 2010: This file is having an interview with Ike Alexander, a retired teacher of special education and a drummer. We talk about his education, go through his CD Ten Basic Recommended Rudiments For Percussionist and we feature two tracks.
Ike also wanted this information posted to the show notes:

SIKE cds for DRUMMERS
This is a “MADE-SIMPLE-SELF-TEACHING” approach to learning/practicing select rudiments!
SPECIAL NOTE: “IT’S IMPORTANT TO READ, BUT DON’T FORGET YOUR SPEED(RUDIMENTS)”!! Coach Ike alexander
Ike’s slogan: ” Real Drummers Know RUDIMENTS”!!
FOOD-FOR-THOUGHT: “Ten is a number that you can remember”!!
IKE’S-BRIEF-BIO(47 yrs. playing & still going strong):

These are just to name a few of my numerous academic and musical experiences as a percussionist.
The cd was inspired because of my love for rudiments and a hope of giving back. The cd narrates and demonstrates each rudiment from a very slow to a very fast and back to a very slow again. Each rudiment is on it’s own individual track. The target groups are beginning and intermediate drummers, although some advanced drummers may benefit from this instructional tool.
