If you use Linked In, better pay attention to fake CISO profiles

I was looking at news, and fake CISO profiles are popping up on Linked in, the social network for jobs.

The article is Fake CISO Profiles on LinkedIn Target Fortune 500s and it comes from Krebs on Security.

This is quite interesting because we really don’t know who runs any given company, but Krebs indicates too that these profiles were recently created and could have been copied and pasted with a different name too.

I definitely thought this was quite interesting, because part of being safe may be wanting to get on social media like Linked In to look for a job and connect with a CISO to ask questions.

If you’re on linked in, better take a look at this one.

Someone has recently created a large number of fake LinkedIn profiles for Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) roles at some of the world’s largest corporations. It’s not clear who’s behind this network of fake CISOs or what their intentions may be. But the fabricated LinkedIn identities are confusing search engine results for CISO roles at major companies, and they are being indexed as gospel by various downstream data-scraping sources.

This is only the first paragraph. There’s plenty more, better look at this one if you’re on linked in.
