On one of our TSB podcasts as well as the Security Hour, i talked about a site called Virus Total. I had three sets of files that I got by email which I saved to do two things. First, see if my malwarebytes picked it up, and also to see what they were.
I found that they were RAR files and when opening them contained executable files.
But Virus total is much more than a virus checker, and something that Kim Komando is writing about.
If you use Access Technology such as a screen reader, this site seems to work better with Chrome than Firefox, but i’ve been able to click to get it to do what i want.
In our second NCSAM post, I want to bring you the value of this wonderful tool. I’ve used it to check on web sites that I’ve seen via email, and I can check to see if anything files it as a potential problem.
You can even use it to check on any of my sites if you are concerned and you can have your fears taken care of within a matter of minutes.
In a future podcast somewhere, I plan to demo this site. It is quite handy.
The article written by Kim is titled Type controls and I hope that you will find it of value.
I did, even though I have known of this site and have used it before.
Thanks for reading and listening!
