Michael sent this article titled New PS5 exploit unlocks root privileges, read/write memory access which is quite interesting.
Suffice it to say, they’re working on making the play station systems able to run outside apps, and while the technicalities are complex, the article says it may just be a matter of time.
Check out the article, and make sure you’re as up to date as possible. the bugs may be in older versions of the firmware it uses.

Hmm.
Interesting.
Its always a fine line with these things.
I have just got emails telling that hackathons have started.
Its an interesting word hacking.
And it depends on the context of the word.
So on one hand getting hacked into is really bad.
Look at the security breaches on here.
But hacking where it means tweaking the utter crap out of something to get that last bit of go out of whatever is good.
Same is writing something or putting something like an idea into well whatever to make something work is good.
Before tweaking and hacking were commenplace there was hotrodding which had more to do with cars, however I was always trying to get the best out of my system even back in dos.
My first hack was to get the old quemm 386 manager, yeah that one owned by symantech now.
And even that was a hack as I managed to get and repurpose an updated windows/dos module to work for me.
After messing round with all the configuration files and commands to well make things that didn’t exist then well running the right commands I was able to get my 640kb of ram to 1.2mb ram.
And if I turned my mono display to colour and used the video ram then I’d get more say 2mb.
2mb extra in a system with 4mb, a mono graphics card that though it was colour on dos 6.22, and then with all the extra devices loaded in autoexec, priceless at least for me anyway.
The second hack was windows 95 through to xp where microsoft had its own tweaking tools and with the right doings I could make things go better and faster.
That changed when we exited to xp and up.
I do have a tweaking program, winaero tweaker and yeah I do tweak the shit out of my system.
I do not however do it to others and I don’t do anything dangerous that could cause unintended issues.
Actually if I was using anything bar nvda I couldn’t turn off uac because it would screw up my display but yeah.
Some users have killed me in the past but I have also disabled ribbons.
I realise this is replacing a system file with an older one but its my box and it works.
I used to do this to the router in fact my call to my isp that I wanted to get performance out of my connection has netted me 5g network access so yeah.
Testing for accessibility is also good.
You do end up piecing solutions together.
These are probably in the hacking catigory.
In fact the more breakages I find and ideas I suggest the more cash I make.
That includes overtime.
Some really cool projects were made as part of hacking challenges and awards have been won.
Then there are those little jams just for the hell of it, some for bigger prizes, and some for reputation only and the challenge of putting something together in 6 days.
Sadly the net has changed some of this into mostly negative terrortory.
Hacking is generally bad except when certain things are talked about.
No one hacks something together.
Game mods are hacks but thats modding.
Making all that computer generated chip and other music is pritty much hacking as long as it uses a computer.
In fact making anything do what its not supposed to is technically hacking.
With the ps, permition well who knows if that will be a thing.
Alegal hacks are of course alegal as well as the jailbreaks.
Though rumors are that companies like apple do watch device hacks and may include some features of those in their systems so if you are good enough, while you won’t get cash you may get your name on a feature.
Well you will know its your’s but no one will probably.
For ages I was on a hackers group and they made simple games and programs.
It was all fun, and in fact I used a simple program which used old yahoo weather and put everything into a generated html file based on airline refference code for your country.
Pilots probably got the same information but it was easy for users to read it.
Some of this stuff got out.
The best times of the net were the early days of 1995 through 2001 and the days 2003 to 2009.
Its gotten a lot more dangerous and running all those flash files and joke programs and joke viruses wouldn’t fly now.
Well rjlsoftware.com may exist I haven’t checked.
If it does there are or were plenty of serious utilities and jokes about.
Quite simple but effective.
I must say I was happy to live those years and kick mmyself for not recording.
The first recorder I had was 2002 and I have the means to record some of the hacks about but never did, lost now.
