The article taks about an app which can get info from the phone and even place calls. It can record conversations, read messages and more.
While sideloading apps can be done, most of the time, the phone is jailbroken if I’m not mistaken, but it may not necessarily be the case.
Some in this community have been known to jailbreak their phones to install things, but they end up using third-party stores and look at what they’re getting to ensure it is not a problem.
Whether the phone is jailbroken or not, the JRN recommends that you stick to your app store of choice and not load apps from unofficial sources. Android is more at risk of this than IOS, but let me stress that this may change. Some IOS apps may be a problem, but it is not very many compared to Android.
