Offshore energy still isn’t secure and nothing seems to be done about it

There’s a very interesting article that might be of value for this industry. Its titled Watchdog: Agency overseeing cybersecurity for offshore energy falling short and it came from Cyberscoop.

For years, the government has shown us that they want us to do certain things for us to be safe, yet they’re just as bad as we are when it comes to being secure.

This group that they’re talking about in this article indicates that there are a lot of things to do, yet they’ve done very llittle about it. Its practicly impossible for someone to go out to the middle of the ocean where the boat or whatever craft they use is to deal with an incident, and this article talks about this in great detail.

While the collonial pipeline was something that we can do something about, and the shutdown was preventitive, what other attacks do we not know about?

When I get a report about something security wise i have to look at, I try to get to the bottom of it. If I don’t know, I try to reach out for help.

An agency who oversees a bunch of other agencies not doing something to prevent a problem should have something done. What that is, I’m not sure as I don’t work for them. I’m wondering what this agency does? Seems like they don’t do anything to me, according to the article.
