Black Basta gang out, may be tied to Russia

Security Week is another good source for news and this time, they have an article titled Ransomware Gang Takes Credit for Maple Leaf Foods Hack which was interesting. According to the article, this is not the first entity that the Gang has published data on, and like other gangs, has a site dedicated to releasing data and where it came from.

This is something that is concerning as they’ve been asked to pay a ransome, they’ve not done so because data is already out there, and the actors are still asking for the ransome.

Looks like the food company restored data successfully which is good and operations are returning to normal. They made it clear with a statement that they will not pay the actors behind the attack.
