Here’s why you don’t want to answer texts with “Hi” as the first message

Recently, some of us in this community have been seeing texts from strangers with just the word Hi. At first glance, you might think its a new contact, or someone who might have changed a number so you enquire on who it is. They tell you who they are and ask if this is someone else.

This innocent conversation is now leading to all inds of scams like romance scams and pending delivery scams.

They may also lead to bank account issues too.

Its recommended that we don’t answer these and report them as Spam. I always tell people that if they are going to send a text message, just don’t say Hi. I see a lot of texts on Clubhouse with “Hi, how’re you?” “How’s the family?” I don’t know these people!
