There is a three-pronged paypal scam going around

Our other Admin, Shaun Everiss from New Zealand sent me this article sent to an email list he’s on. It was very well written from ZDNet and covers a three-pronged scam.

First, they send an official looking invoice using Paypal to tons of email addresses.
They give you a toll-free number to call if this is invalid and to “cancel” the charges.
You click to pay, the money is gone.

This is very well explained by this writer in an article titled Watch out for this triple-pronged PayPal phishing and fraud scam which everyone should read. I’ll be sure to get the link out to the TSB list.

There are also steps in here such as checking your account at least every week for starters.

Please give this article a read. We need to continue to get the word out about these things. If we don’t, the cycle will continue. It will anyway, but if we do, people may learn what to spot and we may have a better chance on slowing this down.
