Let’s see if I can try and get these news bites read and posted for all to see.
This is the link to the January 6 newsletter.
Lots of attacking going on which we knew was going to be the deal, and of course we know that actors will not be slowing down.
Here’s the lineup according to the newsletter.
Top of the news
- • Rail Technology Company Wabtec Suffers Apparent Ransomware Attack
- • CircleCI Urges Users to Rotate Secrets Following Security Incident
- • Windows Server 2012 Extended Support will End in October
The biggest thing I guess I’d be concerned about is the Windows server section. While I am happy in some ways to be on 10, it was a forced upgrade aafter a computer failure that took me there. With that said, I’ve not moved to 11 because of its issues although that might not be so bad now.
The rest of the news
- • Frameworks for Addressing Satellite Cybersecurity
- • The Guardian is Still Working to Recover From Cyber Incident
- • New Jersey Hospital Discloses Cyber Incident
- • Cloud-based Records Management Service Discloses Cyberattack
- • Rackspace Says Attack was the Work of Play Ransomware Group
- • Shadowserver: More than 60,000 Exchange Servers Still Vulnerable to ProxyNotShell
- • WhatsApp Proxy Support Will Help Circumvent Censorship
- • US 2023 Spending Bill Includes Medical Device Cybersecurity Requirements
The Guardian is a well known U.K. newspaper. This can’t be good for the newspaper industry to have such a wide spread issue, but then again, ransomware and other technical problems are going to be a bigger problem than they used to be when I got started.
The biggest news out of these 8 items deal with the health care industry and the fact they’ll be forced to get on the security bandwagon. I’m very excited to read this news, and this is why I’ll try to do my best on making sure I read the bite newsletter.
Sans News Bites come out twice Weekly, Tuesday and Friday.
Feel free to click through and read the newsletter and comment on anything that is of interest to you. They link to news stories from around the Internet. Thanks for reading!
