Yesterday, I was doing some reading on my RSS feeds. That’s all well and good, I can find topics to talk about on our various tech podcasts across the network. But this … is becoming old.
Experian has really got more problems than the other two credit bureaus, yet we don’t have any contact with these bureaus on a regular basis.
According to the Krebs article, you could in theory change the URL of the web page in such a way where bypassing questions they ask you allows you to get the information you seek. On top of this, while fixed, this is not the security issue this company has been involved in.
I urge everyone to at least take a look at how bad this is by reading the article Identity Thieves Bypassed Experian Security to View Credit Reports by Brian Krebs.
If Brian is still having trouble getting his credit report, how many others are having trouble and the company doesn’t much care?
They make so much money on our data that it isn’t funny anymore! Why aren’t they held responsible for their mistakes and forced to fix it and make it so we can do our jobs as citizens to prevent our identity from getting stolen?
This is just … beyond repair.
