Old tech may soon be gone, or not being updated according to Ars Technica

Someone just followed me today on Mastodon and they boosted (retweeted) a post from Ars Technica.

This article is titled Grim Reaper starts coming for fax machines, pagers, landlines. When I first read the article title, I thought it was some new malware or ransomware of some sort I have not heard of.

The good news is that we’re not talking about something new, but something old. There are services out there that turn the old fax machine in to an electronic one if people need them, just like voice mail going to email as a convenience.

For a change of pace, this article is definitely interesting, and we’ll see how it goes with the decisions down there.

Don’t know what other countries are doing, although it did talk about the U.K. in this article.

China was the main focus here, but China and Russia have been very interesting players as of late.
