On this week’s throwback Saturday night, we spent the majority of the hour talking about passwords. Since that listenership is different than the ones we might have here, we took a different tactic. Go to throwback’s page to get your copy.
You can get TSB 163 from this blog.
Several days ago, I saw a Cyberscoop article titled DNA testing service 23andMe investigating theft of user data.
In it, they weren’t sure whether anything was taken, how if it was, or even if a breach occurred.
This evening, I spotted Genetics firm 23andMe says user data stolen in credential stuffing attack which talks about credential stuffing.
I don’t know if TSB covered Credential Stuffing if we didn’t, we must cover this. I know we didn’t for throwback.
This is why we have stated on both programs that we do not think that using passwords that are less than 8 and using them on multiple pages should be advisable.
We’re going to let you read both articles, so you’re aware of whether you need to take action on your own account.
Happy hunting!
