Mongo DB database open, everyone using app affected

While the affected database appears to be closed, this exposure seems to go back to last year.

This is an estate app, and the database pretty much had name, address, phone number, email address and plain text password open on the public internet.

Security 101 much?

The MyEstatePoint Property Search app leaked data on nearly half a million of its users, exposing their names and plain-text passwords, the Cybernews research team has found.

This is the article which talks about this. I could go on a tyraid, but I’ve decided to save my energy at the moment. I’m still recovering, and while it doesn’t take me much to type, I honestly don’t exactly know what to say.
