Hi all.
Do not under any circumstance install the windows notification for end of life cycle on xp.
This update will nag you every day at startup and every munth.
You don’t want this.
if you can find it before it installs hide it quick.
if its installed, uninstall it in the usual way quickly then hide it.
This is just rood.
we know that support ends.
we don’t need it in our face.

I need to say something here. Lots of people still don’t know that XP is going to end. I just got a notice today about the end of life for XP from the USCERT list that Shaun and I are on. While Shaun has a right to post this for people who really don’t want to be notified about such things, I do have a problem with just saying not to get it. I’m sure it could be removed, and its a good reminder to people they should be at least thinking about upgrading. If they see something, and they are aware of the dangers, they may appreciate being notified. We have less than a month now, and I think this is a good step. Maybe it could be improved not to bug you every day or upon startup, maybe once a week, but this is the first I’ve heard of Microsoft doing this with its users.
