Going to the store, or shipping the product back for replacement can be time-consuming and may set one back. This article called Those ‘Void If Broken’ Warranty Stickers Are Actually Illegal. describes how these stickers are illegal and should not be used against us who are capable of rplacing easy to replace parts.
- Has it ever occurred to you that constant power outages can ultimately take a toll on expensive products, such as your computer, studio mixer and beyond. A recent experience will be talked about and how I solved this issue for future outages. Here is a link to the product I purchased and I hope you find this beneficial. The item I purchased is called CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System, 1000VA/600W, 10 Outlets, AVR, Mini-Tower.
- Mando gets made fun of in our last segment.

The A.J. Sunday retreat is now up
mer.net/ajsr”>Here is the RSS feed for the show. Below, please find the show notes.
98.6TheMix is proud to present Episode 4 of the A.J. sunday Retreat with Mando and Jared! In this episode, the following will be discussed:
- We will talk to Mando’s guest who has graciously took time out of his busy schedule to discuss his experience in using a Macintosh computer and how the retirement of Nicecast has affected his radio broadcasting abilities, along with other randomness that may come up in discussion. You can read about Nice Cast retirement at Nicecast Has Been Retired
- Effective sometime in the near future, Twitter has decided to exclude third party access to their Application Programming Interface. (APIs). If such is on the horizon, this spells the end of third-party interactive Twitter clients which means you will not be able to receive all events such as mentions, message and the like. We will listen to concerns from the pannel, as well as any other participants who wish to join us on 98.6TheMix TeamTalk server, found at 98.6TheMix Home Page. For more information about this topic, you can read this article that can be found at Your Favorite Twitter Client Is about To Break.
- We often talk about security when using a computer and/or mobile device. However, have you considered thinking about security at home? How can you stay protected as a person who has a disability, as well as those who have limited challenges such as language barriers? In this segment, Mando will talk about his experiences with various types of home security systems, some of the challenges he faced when operating the cameras and his recent investment his family made by request.
We hope you enjoy today’s show and please send us any feedback!

Podcasts released on the network
There were two podcasts released on the network that effect this blog.
The Technology podcast, podcast 274 which you can find on the tech RSS feed is the first to go to my mixcloud page. I’ll talk more about mix cloud later, but we have it on passing on this podcast. Here are the show notes for this podcast, which is numbered 274.
Welcome to podcast 274. Are you familiar with how someone who would get dressed could do it if they have a disability that prevents them from doing it on their own? A very powerful ted talk will talk about this, in what I’d call the low tech segment. Are you familiar with Philmore Productions? A customer gives me a file that was posted to one of their bulletine boards, and asks some questions. This 33 minute segment talks about my thoughts on the file, and it is not looking good. I’ll let you listen to the segment and decide this on your own, but I call this my thought piece. Next, have you mistyped domains? We all have. In an article pened by Brian Krebs entitled Omitting the “o” in .com Could Be Costly gives some insites that I talk about. Finally, I started a Mix Cloud page and I DISCUSS this site a little bit. All of this and contact information is all at the end. I hope you’ll enjoy the podcast, and thanks for listening!
Also, The A.J. Sunday Retreat is also up. Its RSS can be found through jaredrimer.net just like the tech podcast is. This podcast is a music and talk show as we discussed when I braught it along, and there is some tech for this podcast.
Here are the show notes for that podcast if you wish to review them.
98.6TheMix Presents Episode 3 of the A.J. Sunday Retreat with Mando and Jared!
In this episode the following will be discussed.
- Are self-driving automobiles a good or bad idea? We will focus our attention on an article in which an executive from Toyota claims that self-driving cars will kill hundreds, while at the same time saving thousands. The article can be found at: Self-driving cars could kill hundreds but save tens of thousands
- Herbie has expressed intrest in the subject of Amazon providing Prime Membership discounts to those who are receiving government aid such as Medicare. Despite arguments of opponents stating that even though Amazon has made such move to provide discounts, people who are low-income will not shop online regardless. can this be true? This article can be found at: Amazon Offers Prime Discount for Medicaid Recipients
- In 2014, gun rights in Iowa have been extended to grant the ability for blind people to keep and bear arms. This in turn has law enforcement scratching their heads. What are we talking about? This article, which can be found at: Iowa grants gun permits to the blind talks about the good and bad in relation to blind people being able to carry a gun. Can this be a good or bad thing? Stay tuned as we discuss this and more on the show.
- If time permits, we will have an open forum session in which you the listener/participant can express whatever is on your mind.
We hope you enjoy today’s show and Thanks for listening, and please leave that feedback!
I hope you’ll consider either of these podcasts, and I’m working on 275 for tech as we speak.
