Covid-19: an app that will track your updates

As we continue to track the covid-19 virus, otherwise known as the Corona Virus, Cyberscoop is reporting now that there is an Android application that will track the spread of this virus in real time. Problem is, that this application will not track the disease which is spreading quickly. This application asks for $100 in bitcoin. If this is not paid, photos, social media, and other aspects of the android phone is deleted.

As mounting concerns of the virus is felt, 171,000 plus people are infected as of 10 AM US PT. 41,000 plus here in the United States. While the death rate is relatively low at 2 and 1 percent globally and U.S. respectively, our security is more paramount than ever.

If you’d like to read more on this emerging threat, please go over to Cyberscoop and read A coronavirus-tracking app locked users’ phones and demanded $100 which was posted on March 16th.

This may not be the end of this. I’m wondering why we’re hearing more android cases and not a whole lot of IOS cases? One thing the article mentioned was that this application is not even in the Google Play store, its on an independent web site.

  1. I went to the store, cpouldn’t buy what I usually buy, let alone buy extra food which I could do. Its going to get quite interesting, and I got two more emails uyesterday about the corona mask. Funny thing was that I went to check out one link and I got the error assist from ATT. That means the domain doesn’t exist. Good job, guys! It was mixed with parts of newsy type things.

  2. Tell me about it jared.
In new zealand its not peaked yet but even with the travel restrictions we have even though we are only in stage 1 lockdown, even though we are still allowed to go out and use public transport, and still have normal lives I have noticed a lot going on.
Offline, there is more traffic on the road and more using cars.
Reusable cups are out the window now in cafes.
This is a really crappy time to bann plastic and stop further drilling for fostle fuels.
If nothing can run, we will need more and more petrol, and fuck all those that say we need to save the planet.
Right now, this virus could waste us before the 2050 global warming deadline.
It doesn’t make much sence to bann all that plastic now not while this monster is loose anyway.
As for isolation, I can’t really travel outside the country now but I wouldn’t want to.
At least I have contracts lined up for when we stake this monster’s heart, I know others do not.
Worse, with no events anywhere and or sports, we suddenly find ourselves at a loss.
I have been listening to radio streams from people on my network who would usually have work but don’t now.
On the ham radio stream I listen to, some are prepaired some are like me and hanging on.
Some people have the virus and are trying to keep it together.
But on my forums and other lists people are buying weapons in huge quantities and some are learning survival skills in case it all goes bust.
No one is thinking about war just yet, but even if you don’t get hit with this virus the wake of its passing is enough to destroy worlds and its not even that big of a beasty.
Its violent, sure, fast, sure, deadly, not to bad but it can do some major damage if it bites you.
    But fear is everywhere.
And its going almost to fast.
In china people were being locked in aparently.
Every agency that hasn’t stopped events is doing so now.
Every organisation and company is sending out boilerplate notices about how they are keeping safe.
And we havn’t closed schools, eating places, or even shut down the government just yet.
We have put forward more cash for businesses and we will continue to get supplies.
We are stocking supplies where we can, enough for 2 weeks should we have to.
I have however noticed that google’s spam filters are working overtime, stuff that I would usually not find in spam is being found in spam so security is up.
My biggest concern is not the virus itself, I mean if we are doing all we can then so be it.
But the generated fear will eventually blow a hole somewhere.
Sooner or later this thing will end the world as we know it.
And it doesn’t have to even kill all of us.
A lot of places are struggling in europe and the east and well eventually the world will end from fear it will and so it will just do.
I doubt we will be able to last the year let alone the 2 years or more that it may take to vanquish this foe.

  3. We’ve not peaked either, in fact, the numbers are going up, but still a 1.3 percent death rate. Depressing. I was never forced in until now, and I can’t go anywhere because I have nowhere to go. At least, when I chose to isolate and be on the computer it was by choice, but when I had somewhere to go, I went. Its just going to get interesting.

  4. Well I am not surprised.
    Android is opensource.
However, people are looking for info on this fast spreading monster and panicking to boot.
This virus is its own monster now.
Attacking health phacilities, and phones, well everyone wants cash.
One thing I warned people about online is without jobs our crimerate will go up.
These guys probably just got told they had to be isolated, and got let go from their jobs.
So they do all this, I mean who can blame them.
Of course if this is just bad guys then they should all get what’s coming to them.
People will search everywhere, even though youtube aint safe.
The good thing is that now this stuff is reported it will be delt with but yeah, this thing like some film star names is a hackers magnet, though you would have to be really low to do this.
Apple’s closed source system makes it harder to hack but it does happen.
Worse all the restrictions and lockins to its own network is actually not great for consumers either as well as its price bracket.
    Android is everywhere.
However this is clearly unofficial and fishing, but there are enough people panicking, which is the big issue though.
We should know not to click but fear runs the world.
Also with all the virus going about, I think governments should at least for now reintroduce plastic bags for the duration of the virus.
Cafes that remain open in new zealand refuse to take reusable cups now and a lot of people drive cars now.
Now this virus is against global climate change to.
And in new zealand its not even peaked.
