Brazil gets targeted in the court department, entire web site down, ransomware to blame by an unknown attacker

Hackread is reporting that Brazil is now the target of a very nasty ransomware attack. The court did everything correctly, even including a backup of the data. That is now fruitless, because not only is the couert data and web site encrypted, but so are the backups.

One thing that the JRN does is backup our stuff through dropbox where it is offline. If I were to be encrypted, I could get Dropbox to restore my entire dropbox back to a prior day, and everything could be restored.

I think since I have some drives now, I should contemplate backing up my web sites and things to those for safe keeping. This is only going to get interesting.
