Twitter reportedly wants business to shell out $1k per month for gold

I’m having a conversation on Mastodon with someone who had their post retweeted or boosted. They sent me this article from the verge titled Twitter will let businesses keep their gold checkmarks — for $1,000 per month/ which was posted to the Verge on February 4th.

I love this line in the article. It says:

The company didn’t immediately respond to The Verge’s request for comment, as the company no longer has a communications team.

This seems to be Twitter’s MO for now.

As the person and I are going back and forth, they write:

@jrimer2023 @anthony Yup, I remember that too. He pretty much fired anyone who doesn’t directly keep Twitter running.

I’m quite certain that ending support for accessibility waters will eventually land Elon in hot water with ADA.

He also confirms that a company he used to work for went through that.

I don’t know about you guys, but if Twitter’s accessibility starts going downhill, the company will definitely be in a lawsuit, and we know Tesla is having its own issues.

Not sure how many business will be paying that $1,000 per month to keep that mark. What do you guys think?
