I saw a retweet on Mastodon of a very interesting wired article by Andy Greenberg.
As we know, Andy has written a few books through the years, and we’ll be talking about his interview he did on Cybercrime Magazine very soon.
The Andy Greenberg that popped up is titled NBERG

Meet the Creator of North Korean Hackers’ with a subhead that says:
The world’s most prolific crypto thieves have used Sinbad.io to launder tens of millions. Its creator, “Mehdi,” answers WIRED’s questions.
The thing is, this guy, whoever he is, says that he is doing nothing wrong. The article says that he is allowing stolen money to be used in his service to be turned in to bitcoin.
To be fair, while I understand Crypto currency and its anonymity, if someone were to come to me and tell me that some actor was using the service to launder stolen money, I’d ask for more information and boot them off.
It doesn’t make sense to keep people who use this mixing service to pass their money they didn’t earn legitimately through it and should be part of the terms if there are any at all. It seems to me that they don’t, but I don’t have any proof of any of what I’m saying.
I used to read Wired on a regular, so spotting this was quite interesting.
Let’s see what happens to this service as North Korea continues to steal crypto. Maybe Crypto and Bitcoin specificly will die quicker than Mikko’s project 2150 date at this rate.
Andy covers this well, but it is a lengthy read.
