This should probably go in to the category of “this doesn’t surprise me” and I am probably not. Came across an Andy Greenberg article boosted by our good friend Brian Krebs.
The article is titled Crypto Buyers Beware: 1 in 4 New Tokens of Any Value Is a Scam which is quite interesting.
The pump and dump scam is described in this article quite well, and has been talked about for as long as I have been in this field. To be onest, I haven’t heard it talked about for the last 10 or so, but early newsletters on sites like about.com which doesn’t exist anymore did.
This probably doesn’t surprise me that this would be used in Crypto, and wonder if that happened to the coin that Elon Musk so wants to support that is only at $.05 but had a high of $.75 or so we talked about?
The article is a good one, and worth reading. Its going on EMHS as its a great resource. Things to know.
