Hello all,
Previewing word documents may become a problem. This means that we must tell our users what we are sending especially if we are sending links.
Make sure that the link is to a trusted source like your web site, a file sharing service like SendSpace, Youusendit or WeTransfer.
If you send files directly through a service like Sendspace or Wetransfer, make sure you tell the user that you’re going to send an email using that service.
If you’re not expecting the file, run it through a service like Virus Total or your local antivirus program like Malware Bites.
The article by Komando staff is titled Keep an eye out – Malware-infected Word docs spreading which was written on the 7th of this month.
I remember seeing resumes, or supposed resumes which were sent to me. They said they were looking for a job. The Word version I used said it couldn’t open the file. I sent the file to my boss at the time and they said it was spam.
I did write and say that the file couldn’t be read and to try again, never heard anything. I was told never to do that again.
Something we need to continue to pass along.
This is unfortunate. Maybe sending files is the thing we should not do unless we tell someone we’re sending it and telling them exactly what we’re sending.
What do you think?
