While I chose to unfollow someone on Mastodon by choice, I saw a boost from one of my followers who boosted this post.
The article in question talks about how there is a bug in 16.4x where Siri would not schedule events on any month that had the 31st.
A blind woman called a talk show asking about this, saying that Siri is the only way they use their phone. While I can understand, and I know someone who uses Siri exclusively but not Voice Over, we as disabled people should know enough Voice Over to use our phone. I do, and I don’t have any issues. But if you’re newly blinded, or don’t have the hand coordination to use Voice over, something like Siri is perfect!
While the bug is fixed in 16.5 which is still in beta, we do need to make sure that we teach voice over for the people who need help.
The apple insider article is titled A Siri bug in the iOS 16.4.1 Calendar app is causing problems for vision impaired and I urge those who need Siri to read it. Speaking of which, I need to book a calendar appointment, and we’ll see how that goes.
