Banks warn with big increase of scams

There’s a huge spike in scams that target people who use Banks, according to a BBC article. Scams are up at least 87 percent, although this may be 2022 numbers.

According to the article, social media and telecom companies are at fault for allowing the scams to perpetrate to begin with.

Social Media has tools in place to report scams and behavior that is against the terms of service of the provider. Most of these companies have it as lip service, as far as I’m concerned, but telecom companies don’t have anything to show for it, we pay the bills, we got all the calls, regardless of what comes through.

I got two Japan phone calls, and no voice mail. The phone show it as coming from Japan. I can call back through other ways, but they didn’t leave a message.

This needs to improve somehow.

The BBC’s article is titled Banks warn of big increase in online scams so please feel free to give it a read.

Make it a great day!
