I’m not against people who claim that the bill’s purpose is to get those people who break the law to be picked up, but I’m reading this article titled WhatsApp could disappear from UK over privacy concerns, ministers told and this is interesting.
E2EE is described as end-to-end encryption, basicly known as SSL or TLS.
They want to be able to catch predators and I am not against that. As Steve Gibson said once, this apparently was what Soppa and Pippa were about. But somehow, it had language in there that the tech experts ranted about, which killed both of those.
I am not a bill writer, but I would not read 250 pages of a bill, 10 pages of which would be the table of contents.
I don’t think lawmakers understand what the Internet really is. I’d love to see what Steve Gibson has to say about something like this.
