Youth hacking ring at the center of hacking

We talked about a Cyber Crime segment and played it as part of TSB’s podcast 162’s where it was aired in full.

I went looking for the article when I was out, and read it. Its a very interesting article, and I thought it would be a good share, even after the fact.

Youth hacking ring at the center of cybercrime spree is the article from Cyberscoop.

One thing I want to point out is a correcting thing tthat I said. I understood it as the calm, but reading this and looking at the spelling, its name is “The Com” (c o m) like community.

Speaking on condition of anonymity to describe the actions of a hacking group with a history of violence against its perceived enemies, the researchers say the emergence of the Com illustrates the need for policymakers and the cybersecurity community to take a much harder line against the youth-led cybercrime ecosystem.

The paragraph above is where it talks about the name. As Cybercrime Radio’s Scott Schober stated:

Teenagers and culprits in their early 20s are increasingly pulling off high-profile hacks using advanced skills and loudly bragging about their exploits in language filled with racism and misogyny, with the Com serving as a radicalizing environment for some of these cybercriminals.

I don’t want to highlight the entire article, but I did find the article and read it.

If you searched this out yourself, what did you think?
