Cyber Attack cuts off Water for 2 days

Cyberattack on Irish Utility Cuts Off Water Supply for Two Days

Coming from Sans security, this is going to be very interesting. It says:

Hackers launched a cyberattack on an Irish water utility, causing disruption and leaving people without water for two days. The hackers targeted a Eurotronics water pumping system, defacing a user interface with a message announcing the hack. The hackers also posted an anti-Israel message and said they targeted the system due to it being made in Israel. The water utility’s representatives said the hackers may have breached the system due to their firewall not being “strong enough”.

I really hope that if this is the case, they learn from it and make sure this does not happen again.

As a side note, someone who is an artist on Bandcamp just sent a message through to their followers.

A show of hypocrisy and intense hatred for Israel produced by all the intellectuals who sit in the international court of justice in the Hague, happening now and they discuss Israel for the terrible massacre committed by Hamas on October 7. Even the word Absurd will not be able, to explain where the hatred for the nation of Israel stems from. In the end, I assure you that all this hatred for Israel will return in the most painful and difficult way to all the pro terrorism and racism, to all supporters of Palestine and to all those who are anti-Semitic and anti-Israel.

This artist was never in favor of the war, and while we understand it isn’t technology related as far as we know, anything can happen these days.

If the sans article and this recent message from an artist shows you, we need to then now hold those who took water away from innocent people responsible and tell them that this isn’t a good enough reason to hack. Not that we’ll see much of a reason for that to change.
