16.6 million people affected, no info on what was taken

The latest news is dealing with a new company I’ve never heard of called Loan Depot who provides loan services to a huge number of people.

At least 16.6 million may be contacted by th company and offered free credit monitoring services, according to the article.

The company never disclosed what was taken, but the good news is that all late fees will be reversed for those affected, especially if they went to make their payments.

As of the 18th, several services were back up and running.

Diva on Breaches posted this Cybernews article titled LoanDepot ransom attack exposes sensitive data of 16.6M customers which must be read if uyou have business with the company.

Can we remind you that this is not the first time we’ve seen companies not disclose what was potentially pilfered?

I’d hate to make a late new year prediction which would indicate that this could possibly be the new norm, but it seems like that is where we’re going/.

Biggest question, how do you expect customers to trust you when you can’t tell them what is taken? Frank said it himself, “We’re not immune” but yet you can’t tell us what is taken or potentially taken.

This, is going to get very interesting. BTW, Loan Depot is one word with each first letter capitalized. I wrote it as two words for convenience.

Have a great day, folks.
