Bleeping Computer reports that if this is not patched, servers on the fedaverse can have accounts like yours and mine compromised by this flaw.

Mastodon vulnerability allows attackers to take over accounts is the article title.
We can tell our admins about the vulnerability so they patch by February 15th, when Mastodon plans to discuss this in more detail.
Mastodon has recently become popular, espeocially amongst the disability community after Elon Musk baught Twitter and renamed it X.
It has at least 12 million users to date, according to the article.
Users like you and I can not protect ourselves from this. Server admins have been notified by an alert, says the article.
