Could VPN usage drive the use of TikTok?

In the security section of Cybernews, we find an article that asks the question about VPN usage.

We’ve talked about this on Throwback Saturday Night, and I said that this could probably be the case.

If we remember, TikTok had the same fate when Donald Trump, our former president, signed an order prohibiting any deals with China or other adversaries.

While the JRN doesn’t want to advocate getting around a potential ban, and this article is closer to the date of when we post it, it seems like we have still no decision of the matter for now.

But if you read this article titled US vs TikTok: could VPNs be the answer you’ll see that nobody is even recommending one application over another.

We have speculated that this could be the case when the news of the passage came across my desk thanks to Mr. Ring, board operator of Throwback Saturday Night on the mix, KKMX International.

I steered the conversation away from recommending any one particular app, but as indicated by the article, the app itself won’t just stop working, but there will be potential issues and degredation in security that may occur.

Using a VPN to bypass restrictions. If you use it with a service like Netflix, you can get shows only available to that country. Its been talked about in various podcasts and is not illegal. But with the app potentially becoming abandonware, this could cause some serious other issues.

What do you think might happen should the U.S. be successful in banning this particular application? Register and sound off in the comments!
