I do have to say that Changpeng Zhao is doing the right thing here and taking responsibility for his actions. He indicated that not registering in the U.S. and allowing criminals to use the once popular crypto currency platform braught him down.
Also, the article indicates that he was cooperative with law enforcement and other officials which helped his cause.
I don’t believe that most of these guys who run crypto currency platforms and may be commiting crimes will ever go that far as to pleading guilty as well as helping investigators.
One important thing you do in any business is to “Know your customer.” I don’t think it means that you should know everything about them, but it does mean that you have some relationship with them whether they buy something in the instance of a store or restaurant, or even store crypto currency like in PayPal.
