This was in the Kim Komando newsletter yesterday. If you got a chance to read Starlink is powering a new wave of pig-butchering scams you would know the answer already.
Starlink is not necessarily cheap at least costing $100, and that doesn’t include the equipment and everything else you need.
Under the heading titled “the Missing Link” as part of reading, Kim goes in to what Pig Butchering actually is. You can find Brian Krebs article where he talks about this on our blog and podcast. Just search Pig Butchering.
The difference between that coverage and this coverage is that this coverage talks about a new wave taking shape.
Now, we know that I have always asked people to either video or call me. The excuses that they’re using someone else’s phone or their phone is broken or whatnot.
Kim now says that they’re going to now use Deepfakes to take their place as well as Starlink to be able to give themn the boost they need.
We know that Pig Butchering scams are not necessarily based in the U.S., hense Starlink’s involvement.
The article talks about several busts that have been made in recent times.
Let’s pass this along, and make sure that people are well aware of what is going on. This definitely is not looking good.
Hope you’re doing well, and thanks for reading!
