Hello gang,
I saw this in the Kim Komando newsletter recently, and I figured I’d see if there was an article on it.
Sure enough there is an article on Kim’s site.
I like the article, and it is a good start, but I think there is one thing that it does not tell you.
If you get a legit invoice, say from me, it’ll also appear in your Paypal account to pay.
This is not mentioned as part of the article, and I think that it should.
Let’s say I sent an invoice to Nick. Nick’s address is tied to Paypal. There are several things it’ll do:
- It’ll show up in his account
- It’ll greet him by full name or company
- The website will give you a pay now button if unpaid
- The Email will allow you to log in if not to pay the invoice on the official web page of Paypal
- The App may also have the invoice there, making it easy to pay directly and it’ll notify you if there is an invoice
The fake Invoices never greet you by name, they don’t show up in your account, and definitely not in the app where it can be scrutinized.
Beware: Convincing new PayPal invoice scam is the article by Kim, and I’d still read it s it may mention things that I didn’t.
Make it a safe holiday!
We’ll continue to post when things are needed.
