News
Here is some of the news that might be of interest. It is not to be exhaustive, continue to check the blog for more. Some may not be listed here.
,
- Telegram is in the news for the wrong reason. This week, it actually leads to our trivia question which I posted to the blog and an accompanying article that was linked in a newsletter for pig butchering. Has Telegram really done anything about the crime on its platform?
- We’ve talked about the fire situation here in Los Angeles, but that’s not all. Seems like Elon Musk’s company Space X hasn’t really learned anything as their rockets continue to blow up. Speaking of fire, SpaceX has had 7 launches and some results
- Microsoft released their monthly security updates and we have a great new year start with over 150 security holes and some may be zero-days. Happy New Year! At least 150 vulnerabilities in windows this month
- In accessibility news, a big win for us! I know that this was a bit on the older side but still worth publishing. AccessiBe if ordered must pay a $1 million fine to the FTC because they mislead web site developers and consumers who tried to use the product. Read my blog post leading to the bleeping computer article for more. AI Accessibility startup to pay $1 million for false advertising dealing with web site accessibility is the blog post. Have fun!
Our Stupid Fuck award
As we start the new year, we’ve got a big company who has been through the ringer as of late because of their security practices. Now, the FTC is telling them to clean up their act, and clean it up right now. FTC tells Godaddy to get their shit together is the blog post if you want to read it.
One huge diatribe
In a 7 minute piece, I talk about my thoughts on all of the stupid shit that has been going on as Cybercrime and street crime combine. While this isn’t the only diatribe selected by the team so far this month and all of them were written this past week, this one has to be one of the biggest write ups I’ve ever wrote.
I took a 4 minute CyberNews article and turned it in to a 7 minute diatribe which someone commented on Linked In and mentioned that it was definitely insiteful. Its really time to get pissed off, Cybercrime and street crime combine during disaster is the blog post.
Speaking of stupid fucks, we’ll let people decide on this one, but a guy got picked up in California for AI images. These are not just any AI images, these are supposedly CSAM images. Under New law, first suspect arrested for CSAM AI images is the article.
Our topic: Risky social media
For the first major topic of 2025, an article talking about a Q4 report that Phishlabs did. Riskiest Social Media Platforms, Q4 2024 is tthe article. This is going to get very interesting.
