Today is the day that MalwareBytes sends out their newsletter. I read the lead story and several others recently, and we’ll have thoughts on those later on.
I believe that Kim Komando was the one that happened to mention that people were buying Iphones from Ebay for thousands, just so they can have access to the popular Social Media platform.
The Malwarebytes article indicates that this is not a good idea, because you don’t know what type of data is on the device.
Kim has always said that if you have TikTok installed, you should reset your device to factory defaults and never put it on your device again.
Experts have said that this particular application will track you regardless of what you do, and this past episode talked about the fact that they normally don’t use apps like Uber Eats, Lyft, Uber proper and have turned off Location services for Yelp even though they have to put a city and state in every time.
Convenience, sometimes is nice if you trust that this is all they’re going to do, but we just don’t know.
Warning: Don’t sell or buy a second hand iPhone with TikTok already installed is going to be your article.
Please be safe out there! We’ll have more later.
