In this article I spotted, it looks like the browser is getting upgraded with warnings about fake sites, phishing and other types of malicious things that Google has been doing for awhile through their safe browsing initiative.
This article says it does use a list provided by a company whose named, and that it is privacy focused. The list is updated every 20 minutes, and those who are premium can get other perks too.
The updates include the blocking of fake e-comerce stores, scam investment and crypto trading sites, survey scams with false cash rewards, scareware, bogus tech support pages, malvertising and of course others that it may already be doing.
DuckDuckGo beefs up scam defense to block fake stores, crypto sites is the latest on this company.
