windows news for this week.

Hi all.

Little for once to report.
Both edge and google have updated and thunderbird 140 is out but esr only not stable.
I wander if this is the new norm or what.
Anyway for those accessing the ftp you will have to get this as you usually do.
For the rest on 139, 141 is on the cards but I don’t know why 140 never got released in the general train of releases.
And that information is already old.
I will leave it in here because it was about for about 2 or so days so I won’t delete it.
Maybe someone screwed up but 140 stable is out.

Windows 11 will have another 2 years of support added on to it.

No major release this year.
According to forums the release of the extended support will be november but who knows these days.
One thing, your windows 10 esu can take 10 devices.
I will be adding to email accounts my account on my aunt’s box for one of the 10 unit updates.
According to ms usage of 10 is down but who trust the big corperate monster.
Little else has happened as such.
And it looks like we have an official release.
August will be the official drop but if you like me get the optionals at the end of the month and have it set to do so, there will be a wizzard in your end of month patch to get the next esu.
Firstly I’d take the esu for this year if you really want it.
Its cheaper than buying another computer and if you have a system that still has some life which mine does I will take it.
On the other hand, you know that start menu I have been harping on and on about in the last few weeks?
Well on the day october 14 when windows 10 goes off support, the 25h2 update goes global and a gridded menu will be in place.
So if you can and didn’t like the old menu, maybe its time to try the new one.
Sadly it uses a json file to customise catigories but I guess if you knew where you were going you could modify it.
Maybe there will be utilities to sort things.
It will be nice if you could sort your stuff into interesting things, customised labels.
Hell if you could do that and have abilities to import mods or upload stuff it would be good but security would be the issue.
No one wants a mangled menu after all.
I am happy they are fixing their stuff though I would be fine if ai handled some of it though we really don’t want our secrets aired.

As an addendum to the post, office both off and online are updated a day apart.
Windows 11 seems to be catching up with 10 on the takeover prompt but thats probably mainly due to the pending shutdown.
I refuse to replace my box now.
Not only that but due to the winter and other issues I currently don’t have a stable head or sleep pattern.
As always my blog at wordpress username smeveriss is where the non tech goes.
This one is where the tech goes.
Unless its outside the norms. For those reading in new zealand be aware of that really bad rainstorm coming here.

Thanks australia for giving it to us
Although you are probably happy its no longer ravishing your country.
We will try to beat it into submission for you, then beat you at rugby.
As you probably can guess I am an all blacks standard format guy.
There is nothing like drinking a beer and watching the footy.
