Hello,
This also must go in to the “you have to be kidding me” department, because we’re now finding out that another medical insurance company of sorts that have all kinds of customers have now been pilfered.
46 different entities may have been impacted as their services are used by but not including United Healthcare, Aetna Life Insurance Company (CVS Health), CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Humana Insurance ACE, The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company and OneAmerica Financial Partners, Inc.
We don’t even know if the 550k is going to be the final number. Also, why the hell are we finding out about this now?
I’m part of the United Healthcare group, and this is the 2nd fucking time that this company has been owned to my knowledge?
United Health Care is charging me $124 and my shit is gone now? Again? And fucking still?
I tell you what, I wanna know how this info was taken and I wanna know what Kelly is going to do to make sure that this doesn’t happen again!
I also was part of Aetna and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. This means that I could be double or tripple taken, as your typical info such as name, address, SSN and the like were pilfered.
The article Kelly Benefits says 2024 data breach impacts 550,000 customers does not go in to detail on how the info was pilfered.
Kelly & Associates Insurance Group (dba Kelly Benefits) is informing more than half a million people of a data breach that compromised their personal information.
The Maryland-based health and life insurance agency has issued an update on a security incident it suffered last year between December 12-17, when unauthorized actors breached its IT systems and stole files.
To add insult to injury on why we shold be notified as soon as possible once know, the article states:
On April 9, 2025, the company stated that the incident impacted 32,234 individuals. The figure was revised multiple times until the final tally shared with authorities in the U.S. counted 553,660 individuals.
Kelly Benefits is a provider of benefits consulting, enrollment technology, payroll administration, HRIS, compliance support, and carrier management.
As multiple organizations across the country contract the firm’s services, determining the scope of the data breach and the exact number of impacted people was a complicated task.
The organization’s latest update lists a total of 46 entities impacted by the data breach, including healthcare giants like:
The 7 or so are listed below the last paragraph quoted and listed above.
The article continues:
The data breach notice sent to impacted individuals yesterday informs recipients of the specific data types impacted by the breach, which vary per person.
However, the general notice published on the site says that the compromised info may contain full names, Social Security number, tax ID number, date of birth, medical information, health insurance information, and financial account information.
No fucking shit! The same fucking shit we see time and time again that doesn’t necessarily need to be kept for the job, although health insurance is probably a different animal and a requirement to give the proper care to the proper person. But still, we haven’t even learned how the info was pilfered which is the most important fucking thing we need to have, right?
The article continues:
Exposure of this information puts people at risk, as they can become victims of phishing attacks, social engineering, and scams. Impacted individuals are advised to exercise increased vigilance against unsolicited communications.
No Shit! Not like people like me do that on a regular, and most people need to answer the phone as part of their work. That’s why actors are so successful at what they do because of shit like this.
elly is giving the usual, credit monitoring. While it may be useful, its only after the fact, not before.
Read Kelly Benefits says 2024 data breach impacts 550,000 customers for complete details because I’m sure people on this blog will be affected.
