New EDR killer was used by 8 different ransomware groups, several are unknown to me

I actually spotted this story this past thursday, and it got braught up to my attention again today.

There’s going to be a trivia question on this very article, so brush up on it.

The goal of this is to turn off security tools that are used by people to protect themselves. These days, Antivirus programs do have a module for ransomware, and the actors don’t like it.

In an earlier article we recently blogged, Trend Micro did some research which is linked where their own product, as well as 12 different products were affected by this new tactic.

This is the second of two that we’re going to be covering on this developing EDR killing tactic, and I’m sure we’re going to have some very interesting discussions.
