Monday has another week of news coming from Malwarebytes. This is interesting because this Google thing definitely sounds familiar.
The short version is that someone called someone pretending to be Google. The actor challenged the recipient by telling them they can call the number back, but the number did not go to the actor.
The scheme works because you are called claiming that your account is at risk, but in all actuality, you are giving access to the actor.
