Here’s how to do things right, L.A. Metro had a Cybersecurity incident, fixed it within days

Two days ago, the Cyberwire put out a podcast which I wanted to listen to anyway.

Terry braught this podcast up to my attention because of the fact that Los Angeles Metro had a Cyber incident where signs at bus stops and or stations were tampered with.

According to staff at Metro, the issue is fixed, and KTLA indicated that Metro will be working with the third party to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

One of the bus stops affected was down on Vermont Avenue and 6th street. It displayed a threatening message that a bomb was in the area and to leave.

Apparently, this could be a sign to come for actors, and as I read this via the PC, it does say Oct 21, 2025 in the photo that was sent.

Metro will be working with the third party vendor to make sure this doesn’t happen again and the fact this has been resolved within a week is what you want.

I first thought that it was first reported on October 6th, and it took this long to fix, but when I heard the article the second time, that wasn’t the case.

LA Metro digital signs taken over by hackers is the article you need to read.

Both KTLA and the Cyberwire did a good job with this. It helps when you read things in a better invironment than where you initially did.

Thanks Terry for alerting me to this!
