Hi.
This is different from my usual dumping on windows.
At the moment most of this has stopped so I will cover a topic that hasn’t been covered yet on here.
There is a new law on social networks in australia.
This is to stop under aged people getting into social networks.
It doesn’t cover all networks like dischord and some outcries are on free speech.
For myself if you know how to use a vpn you can probably say you are from somewhere else.
Also you can fake your age to so I don’t see success either.
Some networks like readit are suing the australian government.
And to be honest social networks have been hit before, google, meta and x are massive companies.
Firstly x is musk, musk is tied to trump and neither of them will give a fuck.
Meta is facebook and who knows, the rest probably don’t care either.
If they are sued they will be able to pay so not a big deal to them
How does anyone control the net anyway.
I mean the sentiment is great but even with us back here trying to not use the computer in front of the kids thats only going to go for so long.
Plus there are to many of us having kids on computers and tablets to keep them quiet and those kids damaging their eyes because of this.
However, I don’t see trying to control the net working properly.
The teens will just figure a way out of it.
And if this goes underground there could be more dangers.
And remember that this is the web, teens could go dark and after that have a nice fun looking for that.
It could be more dangerous.
I don’t have an answer for you, no one does but I am unsure if this is even going to work right.
And then what do you block.
Eventually you will hit a free speech wall somewhere.
Anyway the easiest way for the social media previders to handle this is shut down all services in australia and not bother.
So the kids will go elsewhere.
And even if the world had the same laws there would be ways out.
At any rate the social previders will do what they have done with any of this.
They don’t care and they won’t listen and they know they will loose customers and customers are more important than the fucking law because money is more important than the law and they are big and mean.
Meanwhile all of us will suffer all over the place.
I’m not saying don’t do anything, but you are damned either way so choose.
Have it in the open and an issue you can at least track or don’t.
