the end of computers as we know them? or is this just another hyped market.

Hi all.
Firstly windows 11 has auto hdr updates breathing life into older games?
Unsure if that matters.
A lot of drama is going into security certificates as they will all expire in june.
Luckilly for consumers things should autoupdate as they always have but admins of businesses are being advised to make sure things update.
However today I recieved this message on one of my social media feeds.
RAM, SSD, GPUs…The tech industry took a sudden decision to screw us all gamers & PC users, and the worst part is…
we can’t do anything about it.

I put this title into google and found several social network posts, redit, facebook etc.
There is nothing official yet on the news sites though and I would expect that this could be hype for now.
So what this seems to break down is, micron a large memmory manufacturer is shutting down.
and samsung and nvidia and a few others are switching exclusively to ai.
This in nvidia’s case includes gaming video cards and their lease to other companies like asus and hp etc.
Memmory/ram, video cards, cpus and a bunch of prices will go up.
In addition some ram and video cards will only go to ai and its subsystems leaving the consumers in the cold.
This means no one will buy or build customised systems and in a few years after we all have computers reaching end of life including video consoles, none of us will be able to use computers because we can’t afford them.

There is noting official on this and I am personally unsure what that means.
However I see no reason why a large gaming company would pull out of the graphics card market.
And how will consumers use computers?
Assuming all that does ai mean the end of consumer computers?
If that is the case and we are putting our eggs in one basket, then expect ai to colapse when no one can use it on their personal devices because they can’t afford them.
Of course we still have amd and lets face it I like amd devices for what they are.
I doubt vary much that its all doom and gloom though.
So some of the biggest companies bail out.
Others will take their place.
Even if there is a full shutdown, there will still be systems for this year at least.
Over that there will be the bunch of x lease and other systems.
I am unsure however how true this is as typing this on google brings reddit and facebook and youtube bitching.
So lets assume that for now in all practical terms that this is probably due to a big company and maybe a few others shutting down and jollying for posission in the corperate space that a lot of us are running scared and to be honest thats understandable since when those monsters move we are in the stomping line and could be crushed underfoot.
If this is true then the monsters are stampeeding and so we risk a massive fallout.
Its likely though that the industry will adapt.
If they don’t the suing and legal battles will start.
Eventually what happens is either things settle down or the monsters seeing their doom will back off.
And if it all goes to hell in the basket then who knows.
Lets face it, the bastards are losing cash due to ai so there isn’t proffit in ai.
Ai can be really helpfull but it can holusinate and also can overreach.
Then there are those that use it for naferious purposes which means we get a lot of rubbish and fakery going on.
I suspect that if this is all true, ai will probably be dead and the entire industry to.
I doubt that even with things as they are that the big guys will want to die off and take the users with them.
If personal computers and such should end it would end the world as we know it, it could even start the final war of wars or something massive.
Without personal computers, there would be no internet.
There would be no reason to have any website, video broadcaster or anything.
It would be unthinkable to just shut down.
Probably it may mean the end of customised systems but its easier to buy packages and customise those if they can be and a few can.
However if this means custom creations in stores, etc then that would be a real downer but it wouldn’t mean the end.
We would have less choice but even so I am unsure.
Then again, with win11 being touted as worst ssoftware by gog owners and various other things and with my system still working I am tempted to just stay with my system till it dropps.
For the users on my network bar 1, most of us are not using windows for anything ultra secure as it is.
I am concerned however that any newbys will not be able to get into the system.
For those of us that are already on the trail we will find a way to continue.
Just like winamp, most of the plugin systems are gone now but I was already established and had my library catalog.
So it will be for customised systems.
For those of us already active I think will probably in most cases continue to be so.
At least for this century things will continue.
And even if the big monsters decide to go away eventually the market will rebound and others will take over the field.
We have gotten used to our life, if the big ones think they can switch and take us with them for myself I think they have another thing coming.
I and I am sure those that have the means or the guts will not go quietly into the night.
Maybe between 19955-2001 that was true but not anymore.
And for all of us born after 1995 or 2000 it would be unthinkable to return to a world they have no knowledge of.
So to be honest the matrix is active and shutting it down aint going to be easy.
Even for me having lived outside of the matrix from 1982 to 1995 and slowly going in as it grew I wouldn’t want to leave either.
Maybe I sit in the pile of servers in the scrap yard but I’m not wanting to ever exit that.
Though at least if I had to go back I’d probably survive.
I am one of the original programs after all.
However the machines need us as fuel.
And we need the machines to survive, so I don’t think you would want to colapse the node.
Maybe in another century or so you could and we would all die.
But there are right now at least enough old programs that would fight to stay online or if we had to walk could do so possibly.
So the time will come but not this time.
