I remember when vacation was like a month away and its tomorrow.
I have yet to pack my swag which will be today’s job.
I leave at 9.30 I have the coffee and the cookies brought and loaded and I have a few other treats as well.
Little to put in the news readout.
Aparently the latest windows 11 february update has been causing login, network and system instability on some systems.
There is no official issue log in microsoft though non official sources reccommend the removal of the update in question and then the shut down of windows update to prevent updating.
While the issue is serious, I would be against removing the update unless you were effected.
I would also be against turning off windows update unless you were on an effected system.
Reports are this is what microsoft says but as there are no issues posted I am unclear.
A search of the health dashboard doesn’t even say february 2026 at all so I am inclined to put this as suspect till an official issue report appears from microsoft.
It has been confirmed via x on windows latest that there is an issue.
However as far as we can tell, this came from a couple forum postings of no more than 6 responces to 2 threads.
Minus the quality bot and ms replies, several users had some issue with the system.
Another on one of my lists had an interesting issue with goldwave and something crashing and then things taking a longer time to boot.
There may be some point to this but officially some ai bot or a user has taken a couple of forum posts and stated there is an actual problem even though there is actually nothing officially posted.
Of importance here is the responce from microsoft.
That is that there is no responce on this issue from microsoft and that this issue does not exist.
It maybe minor enough that it may not even appear on the system.
This has happened before.
You may get a message from preview stating that this issue was fixed and microsoft will be looking at this.
Its a pitty users cry wolf over this stuff without checking their facts.
Of important note is that this update actually fixes boot issues and shouldn’t be removed.
There is no official post from microsoft to remove it nore was there any official responce from microsoft or an issue.
There is at the moment no wide spread problem and this issue is fake and is just a scam.
Now there maybe an underlying issue that this stems from, but I am utterly disgusted how this has been blown out of preportions.
What is worse, google has put it at the top of its search ai responce feed.
This has dominated the search system for the entire day.
There is no followup to this and no official responces in the propper places.
This is a real shame that someone has jumpped on this and made this fake issue.
Now there is probably an underlying issue so the issue itself maybe not fake but certainly for the moment its not widespread and facts are not being checked.
I had to search for the issue on windows latest x page but it does appear that this is what it is.
Worst there are users jumping on the band waggon.
I know we have been critical of microsoft but don’t cry wolf on anything like this.
Now I know this is fake or at least for now fake I have to contend with 6 articles some as old as 2 days ago taking up my feed.
What is worse there is nothing new like there usually is so I expect I will no by tomorrow.
Of course I may not be online tomorrow.
This is really sad that someone has done this.
Potentially people will follow what is said and will be open to the security risks by not having this active.
Worse people may decide windows is not worth updating and will turn it off perminantly.
Over the last bit I have noted the debloating bandwaggon however what is not mentioned are the several reports and some on lists I am on of the dammage some of this stuff potentially can cause.
I had this, not with windows 11 but with another windows, I think it was 7.
I tried out what was supposed to be a cool security update.
It looked ok it sounded ok but wasn’t.
The update screwed various bits of windows and I had upgraded the 3 systems and several others.
I had to reformat all systems to remove it.
I had to work without sleep for 1 week straight to restore those systems from scratch.
I went to complain to the company involved only to find it no longer existed.
At that point I left it alone vowing not to be so gullable in the future.
At least that happened when I was starting out in my teen years.
There is no way I could do this with my current set of issues.
Firefox and thunderbird 147 have just gone to build 04 of the release which is unusual to say the least.
These are to fix security issues encountered each month.
It appears after a bitty news search that mozilla new management ceo wants to make everything ai controlable.
And while the alt text in pdfs and auto language translation is a real help control was wanted.
User backlash has meant mozilla has a kill and optout switch in the system.
However it appears from various readouts that the system does not work and is completely broken.
Various sites like cloudflare and youtube are effected and a lot of stuff is going on.
The release is to be in the 24th of february.
I am not against ai in my life, hell I even enjoy bits of it.
But I don’t want all or nothing.
Its great I can turn off the entire thing if I want or leave certain bits on.
However maybe this is a bit that microsoft should watch for.
I’d be really brassed off if I got a broken brouser released this month.
Its likely I will be getting this when I return home from my trip.
Probably I will be getting this the day before I blast off for my next trip.
I really hope mozilla fixes this.
I’d be happy with the alt text, image descriptions and language translater in the system.
Chat bot?
Probably not.
I have no issues with what I currently do but anything usefull I’ll gladly take up just not everything or nothing.
The same will be for windows 11.
I like the ai voice chat especially if I can customise the copilot system.
I’d also like to get other assistants to if I can.
Its clear with claud and other things that as well as the bad even some of the game devs or those getting started are and have made or fixed games with ai.
I am playing a fork of a game called endless sky and while its devs don’t allow ai coders in their systems for now I have had no issues with the system.
It could go either way I guess but the world is changing.
Put this another way, its actually cool to be a cyberman I just don’t want everything on and or off its a waste of power.
Anyway the load of information we get is still a bit to much, my poor cpu can’t take that much.
The weather has been a real crazy storm with most of it moving down south.
There has been a lot of dammage but fortunately today is nice up here at least.
The family issues have been sorted out. with email passwords changed and new cards at least in my mum’s case it was the backup travel card not the primary one.
Its quite scarey how much we rely on some of this stuff and don’t know what it means till we have an issue with it.
