https://we.tl/t-05fWTr8LBbs53dnsGang,
You’d think by now, people would understand the idea of phishing, in any form. But Voice Phishing is still the game as Bleeping Computer is reporting and Charter is confirming they have been recently taken.
Again, I ask what types of data were taken, the article hints at certain pieces of info, but the company is saying something else.
I understand that breaches are the way of life these days, and I have continued to get Spam Likely calls on my phone. This is why I personally don’t answer people on my phone if I don’t recognize a number or suspect something looks wrong with it. If Shaken and Stir reports it as spam likely, then I’m definitely not answering it.
I also understand that there are false positives, my own 804 number comes through as spam likely. But I always leave a message saying who I am and exactly why I’m calling.
I’m not going to break this down, but the first three paragraphs before the ad is quite interesting.
The group if you’ve not figured it out by now is called Shiny Hunters.
Unfortunately, according to what I just looked up, Spectrum is part of the Charter brand, so … more reasons not to answer the phone. Great. Just great.
Charter confirms data breach after ShinyHunters extortion threat is the article.
I so want to go off on these guys, but I’ve decided that my words will mean nothing, and I do have other things I must read, based on an email that I got today from Google Alerts. Maybe i’ll go do that instead, and let the blog comments chew on this article for awhile.
