Hi folks,
I was going to do a podcast about this, but don’t exactly know how to do this. The mainstream media has been recording a big security issue with Target and their credit card payment processing system which had some 40 million credit and debit card data stolen between November 27, 2013 and December 15, 2013. According to reports, the issue has been resolved. You can search for this and find lots of coverage about it. According to one trend Micro report I read, we’re to see one of these types of reports once a month. They didn’t necessarily say credit card and debit card security issues, but these types of things that are like it. Since this blog and podcast seem to be geared to blind people, we especially need to be mindful on what we spend, and how much we spend. We need to be checking our statements on a frequent basis to determine whether everything we have done was done by us. I’m sure that we’ll be hearing more about these types of things in main stream media, so there isn’t much I can really do. This seems to be a nationwide issue, where the issue effected stores nationwide. Please be safe out there. Reports have come in indicating there are cards out even from outside the U.S. who baught things inside the U.S. target stores that may be effected. These credit card and debit card numbers are being sold online underground. There’s nothing we can do but be causcious and check out our statements and ongoing activity on a regular basis to determine if everything is OK. The major credit card companies may have messages about this issue on their web site. Please call your issuing bank for more help. Thanks for reading, and stay safe.
