I know I haven’t bee posting much, it has been a bit chaotic around here lately. Be that as it may, I recently read an article of 11 more apps that should not be used because they apparently contain malware.
This should be nothing new, but its always a good thing when research like this come out and let us know what can be a problem so we can pass it along.
In no way am I saying IOS is better than Android, nor any other operating system is better than another for that matter.
If you’re an Android user concerned about data privacy and overall mobile security, you’re probably not going to be shocked to hear that yet another list of malicious apps has come to light. But while some of these extremely dangerous trojans were carefully hidden inside moderately popular apps or sketchy apps made to look legit to an unsuspecting eye, the absolutely massive data-harvesting operation uncovered by a group of security analysts at a company called AppCensus is “special” and surprising (even to us) for a number of reasons.
The article indicates that the number of victims could be in the millions. As indicated, some of these apps could have legitimate purposes and I’m not going to knock any of the apps, although some may not even be needed. This is what the podcast is going to explore this week.
Here are the apps.
- • Speed Camera Radar
- • Al-Moazin Lite (Prayer Times)
- • Wi-Fi Mouse (remote control PC)
- • QR & Barcode Scanner (developed by AppSource Hub)
- • Qibla Compass – Ramadan 2022
- • Simple weather & clock widget (developed by Difer)
- • Handcent Next SMS-Text with MMS
- • Smart Kit 360
- • Al Quran MP3 – 50 Reciters & Translation Audio
- • Full Quran MP3 – 50+ Languages & Translation Audio
- • Audiosdroid Audio Studio DAW
I am not familiar with most of these apps, but by the names, some could be useful like an audio app and a QR code reader, but do you need a weather app when one may be available on Android already?
The article has links, and is worth the read. It comes from Phone Arena. Millions of Android users should delete these 11 apps after Google kicked them out of the Play Store is the article title, and lets see if some Android users have ran in to these apps.
