Hey folks,
Facebook can be adicting, according to some, but I don’t find it adicting at all. Why? Because some years ago, I just quit going over there. Sure, every once in awhile I’ll approve people that I get requests from and look at profiles to make sure it doesn’t look like Spam, and I’ll look at the news feed, but its very rare for me.
I never to be honest, found facebook enjoyable. I did used to post blogs over there, like my playlist of my shows, but I don’t know why it isn’t working that way.
I never posted my life story out there, and rarely found anything interesting to comment on.
Facebook to me is worthless. I mean, I have a linkedin account and I used to go over there and look at things and try to comment on things of interest, but that also got boring to me too.
With that said, deleting your account may work, but one thing this article didn’t cover is the fact that actors may have your picture, so they can in theory use it to create a new account and start posting stuff about you whether its true or not. They could in theory find your friends and get them to give money because they said you’re somewhere and need help. They’d believe it because they used your photo.
Suspending your account may work, and the article titled How to take a break from Facebook may help you if you feel you must take that break.
They link to related facebook settings to change as well for privacy, unless Facebook changed them back.
I think tht’s why I just gave up on facebook, because they just change stuff and don’t tell us.
I’ve talked about me posting to a group and how I tried to post an open letter to a developer of a game I play on the Amazon device. I posted it to the group. I also had several forced password changes even though I’ve got two-factor and I rarely use the service.
Sure, I checked out facebook dating, just to see what its like, but I got curious about it.
Feel free to check out the article and see if it fits your situation. Each person is going to be different, so keep that in mind too.

Thats actually an interesting article.
In this day and age of full connection even though I don’t subscribe to nore am interested int the touch device/ appverse/ facebook or twitter I do devote at least 1 to 2 hours of a day to check all my forums and blogs.
Never the less its almost impossible to turn the system off and move away.
I have loads and loads of things that could keep me wedded to my pc from net tv to whatever else to just me playing heavy metal at full in my headset.
I see the danger in all this went through it a bit in my younger youth.
If you don’t fuck your ears over what happens is that everything goes out the window.
You barely eat, sleep, etc and yeah I have been there and its really not a good look and you don’t feel good.
Saying that, to actually remove yourself from tech when its right in your face is really hard.
Often I try as hard as I can to make myself bored, where I actually try to get away from tech, try to sit outside, etc.
I am aware but its still hard not to go back.
When on holiday at some places I do go to I try to get a remote place and try to not take my tech, and just a radio and simple phone with me.
Of course if I am going to stay somewhere for more than a couple days and such then I do need to check things but even so I try hard to not be online.
Its why I try to work in the winter but not in the summer if I can at all do it.
Its why I have a section of bush at one of my aunty’s places I spend most of the week.
I mean yea sure, the junk, the fried food, and the fact I need to fix her computer a lot is one thing and going out places but her place has areas when its nice you can really lounge in.
During lockdown I spent most of the day in that bush walk round and listening to the birds.
Only 2 other situations have happened.
I have often traveled with my laptop and not used it especially when moving from place to place.
In some asian countries like indonesia where its safer to not carry electronics I have managed to completely detox and only have my phone for messages and such.
Its an interesting feeling when you don’t have the aspect of tech in your life bar your digital recorder.
I mean if I get really bored there is my 10 dollar lightweight crappy pocket radio which is not all of everything but its stable and lite and it will at least get me a music or news station, after all if I get really bored there is always the bbc if I want.
Outside of this there is a place up north close to the top of the country where the weather can be nice but can also not be.
Its remote and a friend has a beach house.
Its meant for detoxing so they have done a lot to actually not allow the net, and a lot of modern tech in.
It can be nice listening to the sea, the walks on the beach, the fruit orchard, etc.
However its harder in the city unless you turn it all off.
The only way really to havee a break from tech is to take a hammer to it, nuke it, and burry it under 10 tonns of concrete then freeze it till you want to get it back later.
In practice this means either being away from the signals for tech or well make an effort to stay away.
Its not easy in an urban setting though in fact its almost impossible but I do try.
For me I have a set day where I don’t structure.
Most days I train at the home jim, walk, do whatever I need online including work, etc.
On saturday afternoon after the last tasks are done I take it easy.
On sunday I actually try to not structure.
I get up whenever, I do check my mail, etc but once thats done, I eat when and whatever, sleep whenever, walk and go out to various things like social clubs I frequent with my dad or walk with a friend.
And I really try my hardest to not look at my pc after 9 am or 10 am.
The family all come round at night and I really try not to look at tech.
The only other time is in summer where its really hot, there is the old, and crumbling pool, there is the outside deck and the bbq.
I am not a sun geek though so half the time I sit by my laptop, though now it seems everyone is going to get smart streamers I can probably just play games and listen to whatever on all the echo dots literally dotted about the place.
So its not a total thing but yeah there is that.
When I went to my eye doctor to do a check I learned a disterbing issue.
Children are getting dammaged due to screen time and for me my eyes can no longer see lights without becoming sore so I try not to use even a screen so yeah moderation is the key.
