Hello folks,
I hope you have enjoyed your weekend, I know I have. It was an enjoyable Saturday with a day off from broadcasting and a Sunday where we did an extended spotlight and music show.
We’re back with 5 texts you should ignore and three of these we’ve covered. The article is titled 5 texts you must ignore this holiday season and of course, with the holidays fast approaching with Chanukkah in full swing and Christmas around the corner, we need to be more vigilent.
Number 1 on the list of 5 is short or one word texts. These can lead to problems like romance scams and other types of scams that they want to portray.
Missed delivery texts is second. I’ve seen these even without a holiday and we’ve talked about these quite a bit. I looked at one and it lead to a couple of domains not just one.
Did you win that prize? Usually you have to enter a drawing, so think before you click a link to give out your personal info. I’ve seen these too.
Is this your bank? This one is the new one. We’ve talked aobut this on throwback saturday night, and TSB. This is the new scam where they want you to pay yourself using something like Zelle, but in all actuality, you’re paying the crook who signed up with your info and connected their account. Clever!
Finally, something I’ve experienced myself just recently. I had a package outside one evening and braught it on in. I knew I didn’t have any deliveries, so found the package in question interesting. I took my apps and tried to figure out where it belonged. Luckily for me, the person who comes and assists me was able to read the name and telephone number. They texted the number to me and I phoned it. I did not text the number. In the not very neighborly scam, actors will text you about a package and then verify your details to supposedly get the package to you. In my case, since like my helper said it went here, I knew texting wasn’t going to solve it, as I didn’t know who this person even was.
In the voice mail, I mentioned my name, said I had a package (named the package) that had their name and number. I wanted to ensure delivery and they can call me back.
That evening as I was half asleep, I got a call and found they lived in the same complex and instructed them to come on over and assisted them here. While it was nice to meet a new neighbor, I don’t necessarily want to assume that the number provided to me was a texting device.
For full details on this one, please feel free to read the full article so you’re aware of what’s going on. Again, the article is titled 5 texts you must ignore this holiday season and I hope it finds you well!
