This was a very interesting article. They talk about the U.S. had something similar too.
Guess it pays to know where you’re going, as anyone could set up something without you knowing.
The article I spotted on Bleeping Computer was titled UK creates fake DDoS-for-hire sites to identify cybercriminals which should be passed around.
Blockquote> The U.K.’s National Crime Agency (NCA) revealed today that they created multiple fake DDoS-for-hire service websites to identify cybercriminals who utilize these platforms to attack organizations. DDoS-for-hire services, also known as ‘booters,’ are online platforms offering to generate massive garbage HTTP requests towards a website or online service in exchange for money that overwhelm the webserver and take it offline. These illegal services are bought by people aiming to take down a site or disrupt an organization’s operations for various reasons, including espionage, revenge, extortion, and political reasons.
This is just the first section of the article, and there’s a lot more. Brian Krebs has covered this on his web site so search out this topic through there or even on other tech sites too.
This is going to be very interesting. May the work continue.
